My grandmother, about 2 years ago, gave me her box of recipes. She passed away April 14th, 2015. My goal this year is to get as
many of her recipes onto my Cooking Blog so that I can share them with all interested family and friends.

Ingredients:1 3/4 c cake flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp ground cloves
1/2 tsp salt
1/3 to 1/2 c shortening
1 c sugar
1 egg (unbeaten)
1 c unsweetened, tart, stiff or canned applesauce
1 c seedless raisins
Directions:
Sift flour, measure and resift 3 times with soda, spices and salt.
Cream shortening well and gradually blend in sugar. Add egg and beat until light and fluffy
Then stir in the applesauce.
Add flour mixture in 3 portions. Beating after each addition until well blended.
Stir in the raisins.
Turn into lined with parchment pans:
8" square cake pan - for 45 minutes
Greased muffin pan for 25-30 minutes
2 8" round cake pans for 25-30 minutes
Bake in preheated oven at 350*
Cool before serving. Applesauce cake improves in flavor after storing in bread box 1-2 days.
