Gma T's: Chocolate Bran Cake

My grandmother, about 2 years ago, gave me her box of recipes. She passed away April 14th, 2015. My goal this year is to get as many of her recipes onto my Cooking Blog so that I can share them with all interested family and friends.

* From a newspaper clipping - the Honey Chocolate Glaze recipe from yesterday  goes with this one  

Bran is a hearty complement to the flavor of chocolate. In Cunningham's book, the baking time for this recipe is excessive - it has been changed here.
Ingredients:
butter and flour for pan
4 tbsp butter
1/2 c sugar
1 egg
2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa
1/3 c milk
1/3 c butter milk
1 c flour
1 c bran
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
Honey Chocolate Glaze (recipe from yesterdays post)

Directions:
Grease and flour an 8 or 9 inch round cake pan
Combine the butter, sugar, egg and cocoa in a mixing bowl - beat until mixture is smooth and well-blended
Pour in the milk and butter milk (or use 2/3 c milk and 3/4 tbsp vinegar)
Combine the flour, bran, baking soda, and salt - add them to the bowl - beat until the batter is well mixed and smooth.
Pour into the prepared cake pan. Bake at 350* for about 25 minutes or until the middle is
